Shana Carroll, one of Les 7 doigts de la main co-founders, staged the Cirque du Soleil performance at the prestigious 2012 Academy Awards, directing over 50 artists.
Nearly 40 million television viewers saw the show!
Les 7 doigts de la main took home the gold medal and the Prix de la République from the most famous circus festival in the world, the Festival Mondial du Cirque de Demain.
William Underwood and Héloïse Bourgeois enraptured the audience and the jury with the Chinese pole duo from the show PSY, choreographed by Shana Carroll.
Both graduates of the National Circus School in Montreal (2005), they toured the world for six years with Les 7 doigts de la main, first with TRACES and now with PSY.
The success of the Quebec circus does not stop there: a second duet marks the arrival of a new generation of artists.
Maxim Laurin and Ugo Dario, fellow graduates of the National Circus School of Montreal (2011), also won a gold medal with their teeterboard number. Perilous and highly acrobatic, their duet was a huge craze and also earned the Prix du Public, Prix Ringling Bros and Barnum and Bailey, the Saint Petersburg State Circus Trophy, and the Rosgoscirk Trophy. Maxim and Ugo are part of the 7 Fingers’ newest creation—we’ll be able to spot them on stage in our upcoming show later this year.
The duos’ successes make for seven total awards for Quebec!
The Fingers have enjoyed a wonderful history with famous festival, having received multiple awards over the years, including the choreography of four gold medal-winning numbers by Shana Carroll!

Each year, the city of Buenos Aires offers shows free of charge to its residents, amongwhich the largest is the show presented at the Obelisk. The city’s busiest boulevard will be closed to make way for a stage and some several thousand spectators at the legendaryObelisk, erected in 1936.
This year marks the event’s first ever showing of circus arts, which will take the form of a show specially created for the occasion by the 7 Fingers.
Casa de Nadie (The House of Nobody) features the artists of PSY, the 7 Fingers show currently running in Buenos Aires’ Polo Circo Big Top. This special creation, directed by Fingers co-founder Gypsy Snider, explores the idea that nothing belongs to us individually and thatthe world is our common home. It addresses the conflict between the ego and the collective, between individualism and the group; and examines the eternal tensions that allow the evolution of our species.
8,000 seats have been already set up at the foot of the Obelisk!
The presentation is the third booking for the Fingers in Buenos Aires, and is a tremendous privilege for the Collective.
Great news and a great honor: After the success of TRACES in Paris’ Cigale Theatre and at the Casino de Paris, the 7 Fingers will take on an extending stay at the renowned Parisian circus hall, La Villette. The Fingers succeed artists such as Johann Le Guillerm, Jérôme Thomas and James Thierrée.
Parc de la Villette, in collaboration with Le Cabaret Sauvage, spotlights the 7 Fingers in programming two shows: La Vie, at the Cabaret Sauvage, from October 25 to November 20, and Psy, at the Grande Halle de la Villette, from November 23 to December 30.
Tickets are available for a limited time special offer of $45 for both shows
