Montréal Complètement Cirque 2011

By marion | April 25th, 2011

The 7 Fingers are excited to announce their participation in this summer’s Montréal Complètement Cirque Festival. The Fingers have the honor present not one but two shows in the second edition of this international festival.

Following last year’s Le Cabaret, an open invitation from the Festival to present a new work, the free-form cabaret will be brought back, directed this year by Sébastien Soldevila and Isabelle Chassé. This year’s spectators can expect a completely different cabaret than last summer’s show, directed by Shana Carroll.

The Festival further supports the Collective by hosting the world premiere of Patinoire, a solo show by Patrick Leonard, another founder of the Fingers.

The TOHU and the Montréal Complètement Cirque festival respond here to one of the greatest desires of the 7 Fingers: to present and to premiere their work in Montreal as often as possible.

This presence is one more step towards the establishment of a creation and production center in Montreal, affectionately dubbed “Home for the 7 Fingers.”
The Collective currently has six touring shows, a multitude of special projects of various scales, television projects, and a new creation in the making, all realized by its hundred-so employees. Numerous successes have marked what is now nine years of existence for the company, with sold-out audiences, prestigious television appearances, and numerous prizes and awards along the way.

The news of the Fingers’ presence at the Festival comes just after the confirmation of shows La Vie and PSY at the renowned parc de La Villette à Paris in Paris. The two shows will run for nearly three months in Paris this winter in response to their recent French provincial tours. Meanwhile, the American version of TRACES continues to move ahead in their US tour.

But one thing at a time, let’s first get ready for the wonderful season of upcoming festivals and for the artistic encounters bound to come with MONTRÉAL COMPLÈTEMENT CiRQUE.

Calendar:
Le Cabaret: July 12 to 23 at the Olympia
PATINOIRE: July 7 to 16 at Théâtre La Chapelle

PATINOIRE – Avant première

By marion | March 28th, 2011

Patrick Léonard, co-founder of les 7 doigts de la main, has thrown himself into a grand adventure to realize an old dream and a new solo show.

Ever backed by the other “fingers,” Patrick also collaborated with new artists outside the company, including Nicolas Cantin as co-director and Howard Richard as a reference and support with choreography.  These outside influences give the show a greater element of life and the further its links between theatre, circus, dance and music.

The creation of Patinoire long lingered in Patrick’s head, and grew further in his thoughts as he recovered from an injury, which occurred in 2010 while performing with La ViePatinoire finally entered its full creation phase in February 2011. The rehearsal studio became a second home for Patrick, who, at last putting form to the work so long and  so fondly in his mind, put his full heart into this physical show.
