The second edition of the LAB7 Forum took place at the 7 Fingers Creative Center on November 7, 2024. We welcomed around a hundred people on site and 60 people followed us online.

Exciting conversations, case studies, performances and networking moments happened over the course of the day. A wide range of topics were covered, from the vision of professional associations to the use of artificial intelligence in live arts creation, training and case studies. The guides published by LAB7 and the HUPR Centre were also presented (find out more).

Sarah Bronsard presented an extract from her work Èbe, where robotized accordions take part in her flamenco dance in a mesmerizing performance. To close the day, LAB7 presented their explorations of using generative artificial intelligence in live dance and acrobatic performance.

Participants also experienced two virtual reality pieces inspired by the performing arts: Messis, by Isabelle van Grimde, and Carry Me Home VR, by Les 7 doigts de la main.  Two pieces by Lisa Jamhoury were also displayed: explorations of the body in motion, combining motion capture, augmented reality and 3D printing.

We would like to thank our institutional partners for their support: the Canada Council for the Arts and the Government of Quebec. Thanks also to our sponsors Panasonic and SYNTHÈSE.

This second edition confirms the sector’s enthusiasm for Forum LAB7, a unique opportunity for professionals to build bridges between the performing arts and technology. It was an opportunity for enriching encounters and essential reflection for the sector.
