Les 7 doigts de la main will open the 2013-2014 season at Montreal’s Théâtre du Nouveau Monde with a new multi-disciplinary creation premiering September 17, 2013.
An original play written by 7 Doigts co-founder Sébastien Soldevila, joined by fellow Finger Shana Carroll for the co-direction and choreography, Le Murmure du Coquelicot bands together 2 actors and 6 circus performers.
Rémy Girard (Les Invasions Barbares…) and Pascale Montpetit join forces with 7 Doigts cofounder Samuel Tétreault (_Loft_, La Vie, Fibonacci Project), and other 7 Doigts alumni Raphael Cruz (original cast of Traces), Danica Gagnon-Plamondon (Psy, AMuse), Émilie Bonnavaud (Loft, La Vie, FeriaAmuse), and new arrivals Suzanne Soler and Matias Plaul.
« Le Murmure du Coquelicot is a logical continuation of our work. The integration of theatre has always been present in our shows, but now, this is a real marriage of the art forms. From the first line, circus and theatre both play a role in the writing of the show. Together, they express something each one cannot offer alone,” explains Sébastien Soldevila.
CO PRODUCTION, A MAJOR ADVANTAGE AND AN ESSENTIAL ASSET
Le Murmure du Coquelicot, the collective’s ninth creation, will welcome audiences after 16 weeks of rehearsals in Montreal.
This creation also marks bonds between artists and producers, between Quebec and France, without which the production would not be possible. The TOHU (Montreal), Les Nuits de Fourvière (Lyon), l’Espace Jean Legendre (Compiègne) and le Grand Théâtre de Provence (Aix-en-Provence) have all joined forces to support this project.
The show will be presented from September 17 to October 12 at the TNM, and then will make its way across Quebec with Sorties du TNM. Beginning June 2014, the show will be presented in France.
An English version is already in the making, to reach a wider network.
